qMRI and MR-Simulation

Access to MRI technology in radiation oncology departments is increasing, creating improvements in radiation therapy treatments and exciting research opportunities that combine MRI and radiation oncology physics. Our research in this area includes:

  - new applications of quantitative MRI to improve radiation therapy planning, assess treatment response, or inform challenging re-irradiation cases

  - development of phantoms and software to improve MR-Simulation quality assurance

  - studies of the impacts of geometric MRI distortions on radiation therapy plans

  - assessment of MRI metal artifact distortion correction methods for improved delineation of radiation therapy planning stuctures
